Census Bureau: 23.5% of people in Maui County identified as multiracial in 2021

Of the 164,568 citizens living in Maui County in 2021, 76.5% said they were only one race, while 23.5% said they were two or more races, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained in June.

The most prevalent racial group among citizens in Maui County who reported being of a single race in 2021 was white, comprising 32.9% or 54,194 individuals. Following them, Asian accounted for 29.3% and totaled 48,176 individuals.

The percentage of multiracial residents in Maui County is 0.9% lower than the state average, which stands at 24.4%.
