Another round of dangerously large surf is on the way for Maui’s North and Northwest shores. Conditions from north of Lahaina all the way around to Kahului and out through Paia are likely with this large winter swell.
Shorelines that have been calm the last few days will have large dangerous surf, strong currents and waves that will wash up onto normally dry areas of the shoreline. Use extreme caution at the beaches.
Check with our Maui County Ocean Safety Officers to see what hazards exist at the beach you are using. Snorkeling, swimming and surfing for all but the most experienced and capable individuals is not advised.
