Last year at the Big West Championships, the Rainbow Warriors finished second overall with 787 points while the Rainbow Wahine took third place with 715 points. Karol Ostrowski was involved in all four of Hawai’i’s record-breaking performances during that meet, setting new conference records in both individual sprints and as part of relay teams.
Holly Nelson led the Rainbow Wahine swimmers last season by earning three gold medals and three silvers for a total of 51 points. In diving, Macie Wheeler became the first Rainbow Wahine since Aimee Harrison in 2016 to win all three conference diving events—1-meter, 3-meter, and platform—in a single season. On the men’s side, Juan Esteban Ramirez Tamayo led his team by winning both the 1-meter and platform diving competitions as part of a sweep.
During the current season, University of Hawai’i athletes have earned six Big West Athlete of the Week awards across different dates for both swimming and diving achievements. At this season’s SMU Invitational meet, Finn Brophy set a new program record in the 100 freestyle with a time of 42.26 seconds while Zofia Tyminska won gold medals in three events—the 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke, and 200 individual medley.
Tamayo also secured victory in the 3-meter diving event at the CBU Invite with a zone championship-qualifying score of 355.50 points. The teams completed their regular season by winning all events against Pacific Lutheran on Senior Day and sweeping all races against Alaska-Fairbanks.
