Six members of the University of Hawai’i Rainbow Wahine soccer team have been recognized for their academic and athletic achievements by earning College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors. The announcement was made Wednesday, acknowledging the student-athletes’ efforts both in the classroom and on the field.

The honorees are Laule’a Ah Mook Sang, Izzy Ayala, Eve Bleam, Nalani Damacion, Tatum Porter, and Cate Sheahan. The award is given to student-athletes who maintain a minimum GPA of 3.50 and make significant contributions during competition.

This marks the fourth consecutive year that Hawai’i has had six players receive this distinction. Among them, Ayala, Bleam, Porter, and Sheahan have earned the honor multiple times. Sheahan received it for the third straight year.

Head coach Michele Nagamine commented on the achievement: “It’s always rewarding to see our student-athletes recognized for their hard work both academically and athletically. These six individuals have set a high standard for our program.”

Laule’a Ah Mook Sang started each of the final eight matches as an outside back and played at least 60 minutes in 11 games this season. Over her first two seasons, she has appeared in 38 matches with 16 starts.

Izzy Ayala played nearly every minute of the season—1,734 out of a possible 1,800—and was the only player to start all 20 matches. She tied for second on the team with seven points from two goals and three assists.

Eve Bleam earned honorable mention All-Big West honors and played every minute in each of her last 11 games. She led the team with 68 career matches played over four years.

Nalani Damacion was named second-team All-Big West after finishing second on the team with seven points—all scored during Big West play—and is tied for third in program history with eight career game-winning goals.

Tatum Porter also received honorable mention All-Big West recognition and led Hawai’i with nine points this season. Seven of those points came during a three-match span—a feat not accomplished by a UH player since 2017.

Cate Sheahan finished her career as a three-time Academic All-District selection. She played in all 20 matches this season, making 19 starts, and ended her collegiate career with nine goals and nine assists for a total of 27 points.
