The University of Hawai’i women’s track and field team finished its participation at the UW Invite in Seattle with notable performances in the indoor mile. Mikaella Martin recorded a time of 4:52.74, which is the second-fastest indoor mile in program history. Martin became only the eighth woman from UH to complete an indoor mile in under five minutes, trailing teammate Lucy Milliner on the school’s all-time list.
Izzy Gorton also entered the program’s top 10 for the indoor mile, securing ninth place with a time of 5:00.66. Teammates Sophie Bekins and Lucy Becker achieved personal bests, finishing their miles in 5:05.28 and 5:07.83 respectively.
In field events, Tara Wyllie placed third in the triple jump with a distance of 12.32 meters (40-5). In pole vault, Ava Enriquez cleared 3.73 meters (12-2.75), while Lindsey Koch reached 3.58 meters (11-9).
The Rainbow Wahine will next compete during a split-squad weekend at both the Husky Classic in Seattle and the Battle Born Classic in Reno, Nevada on February 13-14.
