Robyn Larkan and Isabella Kneeshaw set new school records for the Hawai’i Rainbow Wahine women’s track and field team during the first day of the UW Invite at the Dempsey Indoor Center in Seattle.
Larkan, a junior transfer, broke the program record in the 60-meter hurdles twice on Friday. She ran 8.40 seconds in the preliminaries and improved her time to 8.38 seconds in the final, surpassing Zhane Santiago’s previous school record of 8.51 set in 2015. Larkan also moved up to second place all-time at UH in the 60-meter dash with a preliminary time of 7.55 seconds, later finishing fourth overall with a final time of 7.57 seconds.
Kneeshaw lowered her own school indoor record in the 400 meters by running a time of 55.03 seconds, earning third place at the meet and improving upon her season-opening mark by more than half a second.
The team concluded Friday’s events with a win in the 4×400 meter relay. The group consisting of Amelie Fairclough, Nora Fischer, Marissa Crane, and Kneeshaw recorded a time of 3:43.53—the second-fastest relay time in program history.
In other sprints, Kneeshaw finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.52 seconds, while Larkan (25.02) and Fischer (25.07) also placed within the top ten.
Catie Touchette narrowly missed setting a personal best in the 800 meters, finishing with a time of 2:10.71—just one-hundredth of a second shy of matching her career best and fourth-best all-time mark at UH.
Samaria Vital led Hawai’i’s throwers by placing sixth in both weight throw (16.76m) and shot put (13.30m).
The Rainbow Wahine will complete their participation at the UW Invite on Saturday starting at 9 a.m.
