The University of Hawaiʻi women’s water polo team, currently ranked fifth nationally, is set to compete in the Triton Invitational in La Jolla, California, from January 30 to February 1. The tournament will be held at the Canyonview Aquatic Center and Triton Pool.

Hawaiʻi begins its campaign in Bracket C with a match against Concordia on Friday at 8:40 a.m. Hawaii Time. Depending on the outcome of that game, the Rainbow Wahine will face either No. 11 UC Irvine or No. 19 UC Santa Barbara on Saturday morning, followed by another match later that day. The team’s final opponent and game time on Sunday will be determined by Saturday’s results.

According to historical records, Hawaiʻi leads the all-time series against Concordia 1-0, with their last meeting resulting in a 23-3 win for Hawaiʻi in March 2010.

The Rainbow Wahine have performed well at previous editions of the Triton Invitational, holding a 12-4 record overall and finishing each year from 2022 to 2025 with three wins and one loss. Last season, they recorded victories over Cal State Fullerton (19-4), Fresno State (11-10), and UC Irvine (18-17), while falling to USC (17-9).

Following a bye week after opening the season with two wins and one loss at the Fresno State Polopalooza tournament, Hawaiʻi remained ranked fifth in this week’s Collegiate Water Polo Association poll.

Sophomore Ema Vernoux currently leads Hawaiʻi with eight goals and is tied for most points on the team—11—with senior Roni Perlman, who has five goals and six assists. Junior goalkeeper Daisy Logtens made 18 saves during her first weekend of play this season. Sophomore Agatha Weston contributed seven goals and eight steals during the Polopalooza event and was named Big West Player of the Week for her performance.

Bracket C teams also include UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara alongside Hawaiʻi and Concordia. Other brackets feature programs such as USC, UCLA, Arizona State, Michigan, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount, San Diego State, Pomona-Pitzer, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Cal State Fullerton, and UC Davis.
