The University of Hawai’i women’s golf team improved its position at the Alice and John Wallace Classic, moving up three spots on the leaderboard after posting a second-round score of 298 on Sunday at Monterey Country Club in Palm Desert, California.
After two days of play, Hawai’i stands in 13th place with a total score of 608. The final round is scheduled for Monday, beginning with an 8:00 a.m. PT shotgun start.
USC, ranked second nationally, extended its lead to 24 strokes over the field with a two-day total of 553. UCLA holds second place at 577, followed by Eastern Michigan at 579 and Vanderbilt at 581.
Jasmine Wong led the Rainbow Wahine in the second round with an even-par 71 and is tied for 37th overall at seven-over-par (149). Maline Kraus shot her second consecutive round of 76 and is tied for 52nd at 151. Chloe Ku recorded a score of 73 and is tied for 58th at 152.
Other team members include Emiko Sverduk and Sofina Firouzi, both shooting rounds of 78 to sit tied for 76th at a total of 155. Kaydence Kim is competing as an individual and posted an 82 for a total score of 162, tying her for 90th place.
USC’s Catherine Park leads individually after two rounds with a five-under-par total of 137, holding a two-stroke advantage over teammate Kylie Chong (139).
