The University of Hawai’i women’s water polo team, currently ranked fifth in the nation, will participate in the Barbara Kalbus Invitational at the Anteater Aquatics Complex in Irvine, California. The tournament is scheduled from Friday, February 13 to Sunday, February 15.
The event features eight teams: Stanford (ranked first), UCLA (second), USC (third), Cal (fourth), Long Beach State (seventh), host UC Irvine (eleventh), Fresno State (thirteenth), and Hawai’i. The Rainbow Wahine will begin play against No. 4 Cal on Friday at 11:30 a.m. Hawai’i Time.
Depending on results from their opening match, Hawai’i will face either top-ranked Stanford or host UC Irvine on Saturday. Their final opponent and game time for Sunday will be determined by previous outcomes.
Hawai’i has a historical series record of 15 wins and 37 losses against Cal. In their most recent meeting on January 17, Cal won 14-9 during the Fresno State Polopalooza in Fresno, California.
At the Barbara Kalbus Invitational, Hawai’i holds an all-time record of 20 wins and 12 losses and achieved a 3-1 mark in each appearance from 2023 to 2025. Last season, they defeated Indiana and Cal before losing to USC in the semifinals but secured third place with a win over UCLA.
After a bye week and a strong showing at the Triton Invitational with three wins and one loss, Hawai’i remains ranked fifth according to the Collegiate Water Polo Association poll.
Agatha Weston leads the team with 19 goals this season and shares the team-high of 21 points with freshman Ariadna Tempranó Xambo. Junior goalkeeper Daisy Logtens has recorded 43 saves over 184 minutes played this year and is approaching a career milestone—she needs just 37 more saves to reach 500.
