The University of Hawai’i Rainbow Wahine water polo team will compete against Long Beach State for the Big West Championship title on April 12 at the Ken Lindgren Aquatics Complex in Long Beach, California. The match is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Hawaii Time (2:00 p.m. Pacific Time) and will be broadcast on ESPN+.

This matchup is significant as Hawai’i aims for its third consecutive Big West Championship and the seventh in program history. The winner of Sunday’s final will secure an automatic bid to the National Collegiate Women’s Water Polo Championship, which takes place from April 24-26 in La Jolla, California.

Hawai’i advanced to the final after defeating UC Irvine 8-7 in the semifinals, while Long Beach State earned their spot with a 12-10 win over UC Davis. This game marks the third meeting between Hawai’i and Long Beach State this season; Hawai’i leads the season series 2-0 and holds a record of winning their last 17 meetings against Long Beach State since April 2018.

Key players for Hawai’i include Ariadna Temprano Xambó, who scored four goals in Saturday’s semifinal and leads her team with 74 points and 33 assists this season. Agatha Weston tops her team with 47 goals and has a .588 shooting percentage, while goalkeeper Daisy Logtens has made 148 saves this year with a .465 save percentage—the lowest goals-against average (9.51) in the conference.

Long Beach State’s Elisa Portillo currently leads the conference with both points (126) and goals (73), while goalkeeper Polina Synytsia ranks second in saves at 199. In previous championship meetings, Hawai’i holds a strong advantage over Long Beach State, including victories in each of their last two title matchups.

With both teams seeking to secure their place at nationals, Sunday’s game is expected to draw attention from fans across both programs.
