The University of Hawai’i men’s golf team moved down one position after the second round of the Amer Ari Intercollegiate at Mauna Lani Resort’s North Course on Friday. The Rainbow Warriors posted a team score of 298, bringing their total to 583 and placing them in 19th as they head into the final round on Saturday.
Auburn, ranked fifth nationally, maintained its lead in the tournament with a cumulative score of 47-under 529. Stanford, ranked No. 35, is three strokes behind at 532, followed closely by No. 6 Texas at 533 and No. 7 Arizona State at 534.
On the individual leaderboard, Auburn’s Jackson Koivun recorded his second consecutive round of 10-under-par 62 and leads with a total score of 20-under 124. He is two shots ahead of Arizona State’s Michael Mjaaseth (126), while Texas’ Luke Potter stands four strokes back at 16-under-par (128).
For Hawai’i, James Whitworth shot a three-over-par round of 75 and is even par for the tournament (144), tying him for 76th place overall. Dane Watanabe and Nathan Szpakowicz each carded rounds of two-over-par (74). Watanabe is tied for 90th at two-over-par (146) and Szpakowicz is tied for 94th at three-over-par (147).
Other competitors representing Hawai’i include Alec Hilgers, who shot a total of four-over-par (148) to tie for 101st place; Chris Salem with eight-over-par (152), tying for 112th; Cameron Combado with twelve-over-par (156), tying for 119th; and Quinn Murray with eighteen-over-par (162), placing him in the field at 121st as individuals.
The final round will begin on Saturday morning with a shotgun start scheduled for 7:30 a.m.
