The Hawai’i baseball team is set to face No. 6 Oregon State in a three-game series from April 24 to April 26 in Corvallis, following a recent game against top-ranked UCLA. The Rainbow Warriors lost to UCLA but managed more hits than their opponent, signaling potential as they continue their road trip.
This matchup marks the second consecutive season the two teams have met, with Oregon State having won three out of four games last year in Honolulu. The upcoming series will be held at Goss Stadium and broadcast on local radio and Pac-12 Insider.
Hawai’i enters the weekend with a record of 20-16 overall and 10-11 in Big West play, while Oregon State stands at 30-8. Head Coach Rich Hill leads Hawai’i into his fifth season with a record of 149-97 at the school and an overall collegiate coaching record spanning nearly four decades.
The Rainbow Warriors currently hold ninth place nationally with a team earned run average (ERA) of 3.54, making them one of only four teams to finish in the top twenty for ERA over each of the past three seasons alongside North Carolina, Oregon State, and UC Santa Barbara. Their pitching staff also ranks among national leaders in several categories including WHIP (15th), hits allowed per nine innings (10th), and opponent batting average (12th). Hawai’i has limited opponents to three or fewer runs in over half its games this season.
Offensively, Hawai’i has improved recently by hitting .287 over its last twelve games after earlier struggles at the plate. Players like Tate Shimao have contributed significantly; Shimao is batting .421 over his past fifteen games and leads conference play for UH with a .333 average.
As postseason qualification approaches, Hawai’i sits sixth in Big West standings—one game behind fifth place—with two remaining conference series against lower-ranked teams.
