The University of Hawai’i women’s track and field team is set to compete in two separate events this weekend as part of its indoor season. The Rainbow Wahine will participate in the Battle Born Classic at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in Reno, Nevada, and the Husky Classic at the Dempsey Indoor Center in Seattle, Washington. Events in Reno begin at 8 a.m. Hawaii Time on both Friday and Saturday, while competition in Seattle starts at 12:30 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday.

The team aims to build on strong performances from their first two meets of the season. So far, they have achieved seven top-three marks within the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), set four school records, and added 31 new entries to their program’s all-time top ten lists.

Junior sprinter and hurdler Robyn Larkan has made an immediate impact since joining Hawai’i. She broke the school record for the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.38 seconds, which also leads the MPSF this season. Larkan is also now second all-time at UH in the 60-meter dash after clocking 7.55 seconds at her last meet.

Isabella Kneeshaw has broken her own indoor 400-meter school record for two consecutive weeks, most recently lowering it to 55.03 seconds. This performance places her fourth among MPSF competitors.

Hawai’i sprinters have collectively contributed ten new program top ten marks so far this season, including five new entries for the 400 meters as well as Larkan’s and Kneeshaw’s recent school records.

After this weekend’s competitions, Hawai’i will prepare for the MPSF Indoor Championships scheduled for March 1-2 in Reno.
