The University of Hawai’i women’s golf team finished in 15th place at the PING ASU Invitational, posting a final-round score of 306 on Mar. 25 for a three-day total of 917 at Papago Golf Club in Phoenix, Arizona.
The tournament featured several top-ranked programs, providing strong competition for the Rainbow Wahine. The event serves as preparation for postseason play and gives the team experience against elite collegiate golfers.
Maline Kraus led Hawai’i with a tie for 48th place after shooting rounds of 75, 74, and 75 to finish at eight-over-par. Jasmine Wong tied for 52nd with a total score of nine-over-par following her final round of 76. Senior Kaydence Kim competed as an individual and carded the team’s lowest round on Wednesday with a three-over-par-75, moving her into a tie for 75th overall.
Southern California won the team title with a combined score of twenty-three-under-par (841), highlighted by four players finishing inside the top ten. Davina Xanh from CSU Fullerton earned medalist honors by shooting four-under in her final round to finish eight-under overall.
Other scores from Hawai’i included Emiko Sverduk finishing in eighty-third place at twenty-one-over-par and Sofina Firouzi tying for eighty-fifth at twenty-three-over-par. The Rainbow Wahine will next compete in the Big West Championship scheduled from April nineteenth to twenty-first at Royal Kā’anapali Golf Course in Maui.
The results provide momentum as Hawai’i prepares to enter postseason competition later this spring.
