The University of Hawai’i women’s basketball team achieved its sixth consecutive win with a 67-44 victory over Long Beach State at Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center on Saturday. The event, known as Beeman’s Big Bash, attracted a season-high crowd of 4,671. This win brings the Rainbow Wahine to an overall record of 12-9 and a conference record of 6-5 in the Big West.

Imani Perez led Hawai’i with 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting, while Ritorya Tamilo recorded her second career double-double, contributing 10 points and 10 rebounds. The team’s bench was notably effective, outscoring Long Beach State’s reserves by a margin of 32-0.

For Long Beach State (3-18, 2-10), JaQuoia Jones-Brown posted a game-high 18 points but could not help her team avoid defeat. This result marks Hawai’i’s fifth win in their last six encounters with Long Beach State.

The attendance was the largest for the program since the first Beeman’s Big Bash in 2024, which drew over five thousand spectators. Hawai’i remains undefeated in this annual event.

All ten players who took to the court for Hawai’i scored during the first half. After trailing early, the Rainbow Wahine outpaced their opponents with an 18-5 run in the second quarter to take a ten-point lead into halftime.

Jade Peacock and Keiara Curtis each hit three-pointers early in the game before Long Beach State responded with a late run to lead after one quarter. In response, Perez sparked a strong run for Hawai’i at the start of the second period. Defensively, Hawai’i limited Long Beach State to just one field goal until late in that quarter and extended their advantage following technical free throws by Curtis.

Long Beach State narrowed the gap with a third-quarter run but was unable to sustain momentum as Curtis and Perez combined for key baskets during another scoring surge by Hawai’i. The home team maintained control throughout the final quarter; freshman Ella Collins energized fans with a fast-break layup near game’s end.

Hawai’i outscored Long Beach State by sixteen points in paint production and forced nineteen turnovers from which they gained thirty points.

Next week, Hawai’i will play UC San Diego on February 7 at LionTree Arena in La Jolla.
