The University of Hawaii men’s basketball team is set to play UC San Diego at Bankoh Arena this Saturday, February 7, with tipoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. This matchup marks the only game of the week for Hawaii, which currently holds a 16-5 overall record and an 8-3 mark in Big West play. The team shares second place in the conference standings.
Hawaii enters the contest having won nine consecutive home games and three of its last four overall. In contrast, UC San Diego has lost its last three games and sits tied for sixth in the league with a 15-8 overall record and a 5-6 conference record.
The Rainbow Warriors have shown strong performance at home this season, boasting a 13-1 record at Bankoh Arena. Their only loss on their home court came against Arizona State on November 20. Recent statistics indicate that Hawaii is averaging 11 made three-pointers over its last three games while shooting 43% from beyond the arc during that span. Additionally, the team has converted on 80% of its free throws over the past six games.
Individual performances have contributed to Hawaii’s success. Hunter Erickson has recorded eight assists in each of his last three outings. Dre Bullock scored a season-high 26 points in the team’s recent win at Long Beach State, where Hawaii shot a season-best 58% from the field and posted its highest-scoring half with 53 points after halftime. The team remains undefeated (6-0) when Bullock leads in scoring.
Saturday’s game will also feature special events recognizing Breast Cancer Awareness Month in partnership with Hawai’i Pacific Health. According to the university, “HPH will be handing out 300 clear HPH tots bags, along with 250 branded massagers, and 250 pink sanitizer sprays to fans as they enter through Gate A before the game.” Head coach Eran Ganot stated that prior to tipoff he will “welcome and honor patients and staff from Hope Lodge, as well as present a check to help the fight against cancer.” The team will wear custom pink shirts for this occasion.

Former Rainbow Warrior Tom Beattie returns to Manoa as UC San Diego’s third-leading scorer (10.3 points per game) and top distributor (3.2 assists per game). The Tritons have had recent success against Hawaii, winning their last three meetings by double digits—including an earlier season victory (83-73) in La Jolla on January 3.
