The Hawai’i Rainbow Warriors football team ended their regular season with a 27-7 win over Wyoming, reclaiming the Paniolo Trophy on Senior Night at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex in Honolulu.
The game marked the final home appearance for 26 seniors on the roster. Hawai’i’s defense prevented Wyoming from scoring any offensive points, allowing only an early pick-six. The pass rush resulted in three sacks: Jalen Smith and Noah Wily each recorded one, while Jackie Johnson III and De’Jon Benton combined for another. Senior Jaheim Wilson-Jones intercepted Wyoming quarterback Mason Drube for his first career interception.
Quarterback Alejado led the offense by throwing for 289 yards and two touchdowns on 17-of-24 passing. With his second touchdown pass of the game, Alejado set a new UH freshman record for single-season passing touchdowns, surpassing Timmy Chang with 21.
Jackson Harris had four receptions for a season-high 153 yards and one touchdown, continuing his streak with seven games over 100 receiving yards in the last eight contests. Pofele Ashlock contributed with four catches for 71 yards.
Running back Cam Barfield rushed for a personal best of 77 yards on 15 carries, including a career-long 41-yard touchdown run—the second highest single-game rushing total by a UH player this season.
Kicker Kansei Matsuzawa made two field goals from 47 yards out each, tying Chuck Nelson’s FBS record of making 25 consecutive field goals to start a season set in 1982. Matsuzawa missed his next attempt, ending his perfect streak.
Alejado responded quickly after an early interception returned for a touchdown by Wyoming. On Hawai’i’s next possession, he led a ten-play drive that finished with a 19-yard touchdown pass to Barfield. Matsuzawa’s first field goal gave Hawai’i its initial lead at 10-7.
Harris extended that lead on the following drive with a quick slant from Alejado that he turned into a 78-yard touchdown reception. Matsuzawa added another field goal before halftime to make it 20-7.
After halftime, completions to Ashlock set up Barfield’s long touchdown run early in the third quarter—Hawai’i’s final score of the night.
With this victory, Hawai’i finishes its regular season at eight wins and four losses and will await details about their upcoming bowl game assignment.
