The University of Hawai’i women’s basketball team will return to Mānoa for a nonconference game against Hawai’i Hilo on Thursday, December 11, at Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center. This will be the Rainbow Wahine’s final home game of 2025 as they look to recover from close road losses to UC Davis and Cal State Fullerton. In both games, Hawai’i held leads in the fourth quarter but ultimately lost by a combined total of seven points. The team is seeking to end a five-game losing streak.
The upcoming matchup marks only the fifth regular-season meeting between the Rainbow Wahine and the Vulcans, with their last encounter in 2020 resulting in a 71-54 win for Hawai’i. The game will count as an exhibition for UH Hilo.
Head coach Laura Beeman leads the Rainbow Wahine in her 14th season with a record of 226-174. Under her guidance, guard Bailey Flavell has emerged as a key player, averaging 19.5 points per game during last week’s road trip and raising her season average to 14.6 points per game. Forward Imani Perez recorded her second career double-double with 10 points and a career-high 13 rebounds against Cal State Fullerton, while also moving up to eighth place in program history with 92 career blocked shots.
Freshman guard Teyahna Bond contributed nine assists at Cal State Fullerton—the highest single-game total for any UH player since January 2022—and currently leads the team with 35 assists this season. As a team, UH registered its highest assist total since December 2019 and tied its single-game record for blocked shots set in 2005.
Newcomers have played a significant role for Hawai’i this year, accounting for over half of the team’s scoring output so far this season. The roster includes six true freshmen who have contributed nearly half of all points scored by the team.
UH Hilo enters the contest with a record of 3-4 after defeating Chaminade on December 6. The Vulcans are coached by David Kaneshiro, now in his sixteenth season with a career record of 152-215. Keirstyn Agonias leads UH Hilo in scoring while Brooke Samua paces them in rebounding.
Thursday night’s event will feature community initiatives including a Toy Drive and Teddy Bear Toss supporting Toys for Tots, as well as opportunities for fans to donate to the “Boost the Bows Fund.” An autograph session with players will follow after the game.
The Rainbow Wahine roster features international representation from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and Italy.
