The University of Hawai’i men’s volleyball team defeated Stanford University in straight sets on Friday, winning 25-16, 25-15, and 25-17 at Maples Pavilion. This victory marks the Rainbow Warriors’ eighth consecutive win and brings their season record to 11-1.

In the second set, Hawai’i’s offense was particularly effective, achieving a .714 hitting percentage with 15 kills in 21 errorless attempts and three aces.
Kainoa Wade started for the sixth consecutive match at opposite and led all players with 12 kills, hitting .588 and adding one ace. Adrien Roure contributed 11 kills with a .667 hitting percentage and led the team with three aces. Louis Sakanoko added nine kills, six digs, and one ace.

This win allowed Hawai’i to avenge its previous loss to Stanford in Honolulu last season—a defeat that ended the Warriors’ prior 12-match win streak against Stanford. With this result, Hawai’i has now won its last five matches played at Stanford.
During each set, Hawai’i built early leads—6-2 in the first set, 11-3 in the second set, and 11-5 in the third set. Although Stanford closed the gap to within two points at 17-15 in the third set after trailing by six earlier, Hawai’i responded by winning eight of the final ten points to secure the match.
The teams are scheduled to play again on Saturday at Maples Pavilion at 6:00 p.m. PT.
