The University of Hawai’i men’s volleyball team achieved its 400th all-time victory at Bankoh Arena after defeating No. 8 UC Santa Barbara in four sets (25-23, 25-18, 19-25, 25-22) on March 27.
This milestone marks a significant achievement for the Rainbow Warriors, who improved their season record to 20-3 and extended their home winning streak against the Gauchos to twelve matches since 2015. The win also secured the program’s fifteenth season with at least twenty victories.
Kristian Titriyski led Hawai’i with a match-high eighteen kills and recorded his first career double-double by adding twelve digs and four blocks. Louis Sakanoko contributed thirteen kills, three aces, and two blocks. Adrien Roure and Justin Todd each added three aces to support the team’s performance.
Setter Tread Rosenthal directed the offense with forty-four assists and four blocks while Todd matched his career high with seven blocks as part of Hawai’i’s ten-and-a-half team total. Despite strong efforts from UCSB’s George Bruening, who had fifteen kills, as well as Riggs Guy and Ethan Saint, the Gauchos struggled with twenty service errors and were held to a .240 hitting percentage by Hawai’i’s defense.
The match featured competitive play throughout. In the opening set, UCSB led late before Titriyski sparked a comeback that included three consecutive aces from Todd during a decisive five-point run. The Warriors maintained momentum in set two behind Roure’s serving before dropping set three due to attack errors. In the fourth set, Sakanoko’s powerful serving helped secure victory as Titriyski closed out the match.
Hawai’i will face UC Santa Barbara again on Saturday at Bankoh Arena for the series finale.
