The University of Hawai’i men’s volleyball team won against Lewis University in four sets on March 15 at the Stan Sheriff Center, concluding the 30th OUTRIGGER Invitational. The Rainbow Warriors, ranked third nationally, finished the tournament with a 2-1 record and secured second place.

This match was originally scheduled for Friday but was postponed due to severe weather. It was rescheduled for Sunday, allowing both teams to complete their tournament play.

Outside hitter Adrien Roure led Hawai’i with 15 kills and earned all-tournament team honors. Kristian Titriyski contributed off the bench with 14 kills, while setter Tread Rosenthal added 46 assists and also made the all-tournament team. Louis Sakanoko recorded 10 kills and two aces, Trevell Jordan had five kills and five blocks, and Ofeck Hazan came off the bench to add six blocks and four errorless kills. As a team, Hawai’i totaled 12.5 blocks during the match.

For Lewis University, Daniel Haber led with 12 kills and four blocks and was named to the all-tournament team. Cameron Hoying added 11 kills for Lewis, which hit .189 as a team compared to Hawai’i’s .365 hitting percentage.

Other players named to the all-tournament team included Matthew Ekberg from Mount Olive and Cameron Thorne, Sean Kelly, and Andrew Rowan from UCLA. Rowan was recognized as the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. UCLA was declared tournament champion despite not playing Mount Olive due to weather-related cancellations.

The Rainbow Warriors will now begin Big West Conference play against No. 2 Long Beach State on March 20 and March 21 at Walter Pyramid.
