The University of Hawai’i men’s volleyball team secured a straight-set victory over Brigham Young University (BYU) on Friday at Bankoh Arena in the Stan Sheriff Center. The match ended with set scores of 25-18, 25-21, and 25-16.
With this win, Hawai’i extended its current winning streak to 11 matches and has now defeated BYU in six consecutive meetings since 2020. The Rainbow Warriors improved their season record to 14-1, while BYU dropped to 13-4.
Hawai’i’s offense was effective throughout the match, finishing with a .446 hitting percentage. The team recorded six service aces and nine blocks while preventing BYU from scoring any aces. In contrast, BYU managed a .183 hitting percentage.
Louis Sakanoko led all players with 15 kills on a .400 hitting percentage. Adrien Roure contributed 11 kills and hit .500 for the night. Kainoa Wade added nine kills at a .467 clip along with three blocks.
Setter Tread Rosenthal directed the offense with 32 assists and served four aces—all coming in the second set. Trevell Jordan finished with four kills and five blocks, while Quintin Greenidge posted a match-high of 11 digs.
For BYU, Trevor Herget was the top performer with 10 kills.
In the first set, Hawai’i took control after an early run that included back-to-back kills by Sakanoko. The Warriors maintained momentum in subsequent sets; Rosenthal’s serving helped regain and extend leads in Set 2 before Roure closed it out with consecutive points. In Set 3, Finn Kearney’s serving contributed to an extended run that put Hawai’i ahead for good as Sakanoko delivered eight kills in that frame alone.
Hawai’i will next play Pepperdine in another two-match series scheduled for March 5 and March 7 at Bankoh Arena.
