The University of Hawai’i men’s basketball team will continue its homestand with a game against North Dakota on Friday, November 28. The match is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.
Hawai’i has started the season strong, winning five out of its first six home games. The team has averaged 84.3 points per game and holds a scoring margin of +16.5 over opponents.
This upcoming contest marks the fourth meeting between Hawai’i and North Dakota, with their last encounter resulting in an 81-78 victory for Hawai’i during the 2017 Outrigger Hotels Rainbow Classic. Currently, the all-time series is tied at 1-1, but Hawai’i leads 1-0 when playing at home.
Both teams enter Friday’s game following recent wins; Hawai’i defeated Hawai’i Pacific 88-76 on November 20, while North Dakota secured a win against Western Illinois on November 19 with a score of 78-69.
Head coach Eran Ganot leads the Rainbow Warriors with an overall record of 179-122 in his twelfth season and a record of 176-120 at Hawai’i in his eleventh season.
Statistically, UH has trailed for only eight minutes and twenty-four seconds out of a total of two hundred forty minutes played across its first six home games this season. The team has also been out-rebounded just once so far—during its season opener at Oregon—and currently maintains an average rebounding differential of +11.4, ranking them twenty-seventh nationally.
North Dakota stands nineteenth in NCAA rankings for steals per game (11.0) and fourteenth in turnover margin (+6.5). Meanwhile, UH ranks eleventh nationally in free throw attempts per game (31.1) and thirteenth in free throws made per game (23.3).
Senior center Isaac Johnson recently tied a school record by making thirty-four consecutive free throws after going ten-for-ten from the line in the team’s last outing against HPU.
