The University of Hawai’i men’s and women’s diving teams concluded their participation at the Bruin Diving Invitational, held at the Spieker Aquatics Center in Los Angeles.
For the men’s team, Juan Esteban Ramirez Tamayo led the Rainbow Warriors by finishing sixth in the 1-meter springboard event with a total score of 574.25. His best dive was a back, 2-1/2 somersault tuck, which earned him a score of 58.50 during the six-dive final. Oliver Wignall also competed for Hawai’i and finished in 11th place with a score of 518.00.
On the women’s side, Ruby Pickron was the only Rainbow Wahine to reach the finals in the platform event. She placed 12th overall with a score of 432.45. Pickron’s top performance came on her second dive, an inward 2-1/2 somersault tuck that received a score of 48.60.
The swimming and diving teams from Hawai’i will now prepare for the Big West Championships scheduled for February 11-14 in Houston, Texas.
