The University of Hawai’i men’s and women’s diving teams continued their participation in the Bruin Diving Invitational at the Spieker Aquatics Center in Los Angeles on Saturday.
In the women’s 3-meter finals, four divers from Hawai’i advanced. Lovissa Gustavsson led the group with a third-place finish, achieving a total score of 576.95. Her highest-scoring dive was a back, 2-1/2 somersault twist pike that earned her 54.60 points. Gustavsson had an event average score of 5.92 and averaged 49.90 points per round.
Keira Chandler finished seventh with a score of 556.65, Macie Wheeler placed ninth with 538.70 points, and Ruby Pickron ended in fifteenth place with a total of 497.95.
On the men’s side, Oliver Wignall represented Hawai’i as the only competitor from his team on Saturday, finishing eighth in the six-dive platform event with a final score of 572.45.
The Bruin Diving Invitational will conclude on Sunday morning at the same venue.
