University of Hawaiʻi senior pitcher Hannah Pitts was named Big West Pitcher of the Week on March 9 after her performance in the opening series against UC Davis.
The recognition highlights Pitts’s strong start to the conference season, where she secured two road wins for the Rainbow Wahine. Her efforts included a 0.54 earned run average over 13 innings and limiting UC Davis batters to a .149 average.
In the first game of the series, Pitts delivered a complete game shutout, allowing only three hits and one walk while striking out three. She retired 11 consecutive batters between the first and fourth innings and faced just five hitters over the minimum for the game.
Pitts continued her success in the series finale by pitching six innings and giving up only one run as Hawaiʻi defeated UC Davis 9-1 in seven innings. She allowed four hits and struck out five batters during that outing.
So far this season, Pitts leads her team with a 2.66 ERA across 12 appearances and seven starts. She has pitched a team-high 52.2 innings, recording five walks and 28 strikeouts.
