Five University of Hawaiʻi men’s tennis players were named to the Big West All-Conference teams, according to an April 30 announcement by the league’s seven head coaches. Senior Azuma Visaya earned first team honors in both singles and doubles, partnering with Toa Maeda for the doubles recognition. Timothy Li received honorable mention in singles, while Adriano Dzhenev and Kent Mueller were recognized with honorable mention in doubles.
The awards highlight individual achievements within the Rainbow Warriors program during the season. Such recognition from conference coaches underscores player contributions on both singles and doubles courts.
Visaya played at the No. 1 singles position throughout the season and led his team with nine dual-match victories. This marks his second consecutive year receiving All-Big West honors after being named to the second team in singles and first team in doubles as a junior last season.
In doubles, Visaya teamed up with Maeda to secure first-team status after finishing their season on a four-match winning streak and compiling a 10-6 overall record together. Graduate transfer Li was honored for his performance primarily at No. 2 singles, posting five wins overall including one key victory that helped secure a conference win over UC Davis earlier in April.
Dzhenev and Mueller competed mostly at No. 3 doubles, where they recorded a strong overall record of nine wins against four losses and went three-and-one within conference play.
The recognition of these five athletes reflects their efforts during the past season as well as ongoing development within Hawaiʻi’s men’s tennis program.
