Ribbon Cutting for Sunscreen Dispenser Unveiling

Mayor Victorino gave opening words at today’s reef safe sunscreen dispenser unveiling. MVB, Maui County Environmental Protection and Sustainability Division, and the Environmental Coordinator partnered with Raw Elements in 2022 to provide free sunscreen dispensers at beaches. The dispenser project aligns with HTA and MVB’s Maui Nui Destination Management Action Plan (DMAP), so they took on the leadership of funding and implementation for this project with DMAP funds. MVB will coordinate volunteer groups to monitor, maintain, and refill dispenser stations at 17 beach parks, Whaler’s Village, and Hulopo’e on Lana’i.”When residents and visitors support Maui’s transition to reef safe mineral sunscreen, it improves the health of our coral reefs and coastal ecosystems while protecting human health at the same time.” said Mayor Michael Victorino.
