Introducing Maui County’s Department of Agriculture

In November 2020, Maui County residents voted in favor of establishing its own Department of Agriculture — the first County to do so in the State. Rogerene “Kali” Arce was recently sworn in as its Director and Weston Yap, as its Deputy Director.

Director Kali delivered this year’s keynote address to the 2022 Maui Nui Food Summit, a cross-sector collaborative dedicated to a resilient and healthy food future for Maui County. She shared her vision for the new Department of Agriculture and committed to listen, engage, and move the County’s farmers and ranchers forward. She confirmed Mayor Victorino’s directive to increase Maui County’s food security in the future.
